Steve Dexter

President

Residing in Wilmington, Delaware, Steve is the Director of Classification & Compensation in the Department of Human Resources for the City of Wilmington. He moved to Delaware in 2006 after completing his graduate studies at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in College Student Personnel, and undergraduate studies in Music as a saxophone major. 


Steve joined the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus in 2007 as a Bass 2, and has been an active member for 8 years. Upon rejoining PGMC in 2021, he was elected to the Board of Directors to serve as the Vice President. In 2023 he was elected as President of the Board of Directors, and currently serves in this capacity, leading the PGMC with the Executive Director, Artistic Director and Conductor, and fellow board members. 


Steve’s focus continues to be on strengthening PGMC’s future after COVID including staffing transitions and retirements, increasing PGMC’s diverse membership, growing our youth and community engagement footprint, and securing PGMC's financial future. 


Steve’s other hobbies and passions includes community service and volunteering, animal welfare, DEI advocacy, politics, community theater orchestra musician, gardening, and DIY projects.
